Meet Lise

Welcome!

A lot of people ask me why I named my company Lottie’s Trinkets, I will explain.

My full name is Lise-Lotte, my mother is Swedish, my dad was a Brit, making me a 50/50 hybrid kid. My dad always called me Lottie growing up, a kind of family nickname. My husband, Andy, also uses it and so it’s instantly recognizable to me and I instinctively respond to the name, making it an ideal business name. It’s me in a bead!

I was born in London in the mid 60s, and we moved out to a northern suburb when I was still a baby. I have one sister, Bella, she is seven years younger than me. She is also artistic. She practices photography, drawing, painting and writing poetry.

I married Andy way back in the mid ‘80’s and still rank that decade “right up there” - fun times in London! I worked as an accountant in the global advertising industry for 17 years, working my way up from office junior to financial accountant working in a global environment.

We relocated to Minneapolis in 2001, just after the Twin Towers fell, we actually submitted our initial visas to the American Embassy that same day. Spooky! I finally left the UK in April 2002, and joined Andy who had been here since December 2001. We bought our home in Maple Grove, a northwest suburb of Minneapolis in 2003. We’ve lived here ever since, watching the city grow up and become a major player in the Twin Cities.

I started my business, Lottie’s Trinkets, in 2005 and have ridden out two recessions and Covid during that time. I enjoy design, working with color, shape and textures. It’s good for the soul. This love of color has also inspired me to learn watercolor painting and also pastels. Writing has always interested me too and during Covid, I plucked up the courage to publish my first collection of short stories, “The Shorts”. I followed that up with my second collection “Skirting the Issues” and now, both another collection and a full length novel are in the works. I belong to a writing group based out of Maple Grove Arts Center and am also included in two anthologies that we published in 2019 and 2020.

In my spare time, I help to run the Maple Grove Arts Center and serve as president and treasurer in a volunteer capacity. I also sit on Maple Grove’s destination marketing organization, Experience Maple Grove.

I lead a very busy arts based life, which I share with my husband Andy and two cats.

I hope this gives you a little more insight into my life and creative thinking. Feel free to follow along on my Facebook group and/or page for jewelry and then my author page for my books.
